Hazelwood Financial Reporting Gets Excellence Recognition

The city's finance department received recognition by GFOA for the 15th consecutive year.

Hazelwood’s financial matters and situation is easy to understand, read and access, according to its recent recognition with Government Finance Officers Association.

The city received its 15th consecutive certificate of achievement for excellence in Financial Reporting from GFOA. It’s the highest recognition in the area of government accounting and financial reporting.

City Finance Director Lori Helle said that the department applies for the the award annually.

“This is a prestigious thing to say we meet regulations, guidelines and accounting principles,” she said.

Helle also said that the recognition helps with bond issues and the city’s bond ratings.

According to the City of Hazelwood’s press release, the 2011-2012 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report meets the high standards of the GFOA program and has been judged by an impartial panel.
