Election Filing for Ward Seats on Hazelwood City Council Opens Soon

City Council seats representing Wards 1, 3, 5, and 7 in the City of Hazelwood are expiring.

Residents interested in filing as candidates for election to Hazelwood City Council may obtain nominating petitions from City Clerk Colleen Wolf at 415 Elm Grove Lane.

Council positions are to be filled for a full three-year terms at the election on Tuesday, April 2, 2013. Positions up for grabs include wards 1, 3, 5 and 7.

In order to run for a council seat:

  • Candidates must be at least 21 years of age
  • A registered vote
  • Must also have lived in Hazelwood for at least two years immediately prior to the election
  • Reside in the Ward for which the office is sought.

Filing for the election opens on Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at 8 a.m. and closes on Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at 5 p.m.

Nominating petitions for a Ward Council member shall be signed by no less than 25 and no more than 50 registered voters eligible to vote for the candidate. These petitions must be then be filed with the City Clerk by January 15, 2013.
