Grand Re-Opening of Musick Park Sprayground

The City of Hazelwood is putting finishing touches on the renovation work done to the Musick Park Sprayground, located at Hanley Road and Latty Avenue.  Hazelwood's communication coordinator Tim Davidson said everything should be ready in time for the grand re-opening celebration, scheduled for May 12 at 5 p.m.  The public is invited to join city leaders in officially re-opening this popular water attraction for the summer 2012 season.

Since opening in 2008, the Musick Park Sprayground has been a popular hangout for kids and adults seeking cool relief from the summer heat.  Some of the enhancements made to this facility include upgrades to all facets of the spray pad including the mechanical equipment, underground pipes, spray heads, fencing, and concrete with bare feet friendly surfacing.  Plus, at night, the sprayground will be lit up with multi-colored lights that reflect off the shooting water, creating a rainbow show.

“We installed the sprayground at Musick Park for the enjoyment of local residents who could walk there,” said Doug Littlefield, supervisor of the Hazelwood Parks and Recreation Division. “With all the recent improve-ments, it’s definitely a ‘must see’ attraction for people who live in and outside our community.

"Not only does it provide instant relief from the hot sun during the day, but also at night it creates an amazing multi-colored water show that is entertaining to watch.”

The Musick Park Sprayground will be available for use from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on a daily basis.  It is programmed to provide users with 30-minute intervals of crisp, refreshing water to play in once the “on” switch has been activated.
