Reward Money Increases for Megan Boken Murder

More entities add to reward money for tips that could lead to arrest and conviction of whomever is responsible for murdering Megan Boken, a former Saint Louis University volleyball player killed Saturday in the Central West End of St. Louis.

Megan Boken, 23, a former Saint Louis University (SLU) volleyball player, was shot and killed Saturday afternoon while parked in her car at the intersection of Maryland and North Taylor. Authorities believe she was the victim of a robbery. Police have said there is no evidence to suggest she knew her killer.

St. Louis Regional CrimeStoppers asked Patch to help inform St. Louis citizens that the reward dollars for tips leading to arrest and/or conviction of Boken's killer have been increasing.

Officer Lisa Pisciotta, St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department and executive director of St. Louis Regional CrimeStoppers, said tips are being shared daily. "But people call when they're reminded by media coverage about cases, such as this one," she said.

The Central West End Neighborhood Security Initiative is offering a $10,000 reward for the arrest of whomever committed this alleged homicide. Earlier this week, a group called Friends of Megan offered an additional $10,000 for the arrest and conviction of the suspect.

Pisciotta said Washington University School of Medicine officials now have pledged another $10,000 for the arrest and conviction of whomever killed Boken.

So, as of Wednesday morning, a total of $31,000 total reward money was being offered in the homicide case of Boken.

Police indicate the suspect is a black male with a medium complexion. He also was described as 5 foot 8 inches to 5 foot 10 inches tall, with a thin build and short hair. He was described as wearing a grey charcoal shirt, Khaki pants and white tennis shoes.

Calls to St. Louis CrimeStoppers can be anonymous in that there is no caller identification and no voice mail. Tips must be called, texted or emailed directly to the CrimeStoppers Tip Hotline only to be eligible for the CrimeStoppers rewards, said Pisciotta.

Fox Sports Midwest reported Boken played volleyball for the Saint Louis Billikens from 2007 to 2010. She was a 2011 graduate of SLU's John Cook School of Business. She also played on the SLU volleyball teams who emerged as winners of the Atlantic 10 Conference regular-season titles in 2008 and 2009.

Boken was living near Chicago in Wheaton, IL, before visiting St. Louis this weekend for an alumni volleyball game.
