North County Home Invasion Ends in Murder, Police Searching for Four Suspects

St.  Louis County Police are on the lookout for several suspects who killed a St. Louis County homeowner at around 1:30 a.m. Monday, KMOV reports.

In an apparent attempt to rob the Dellwood home, the men broke in and confronted the homeowners, 38-year-old Bryant Carruth and his wife.

After struggling with the invaders, Carruth was shot and killed by one of the suspects, police said. His wife wasn’t injured, but the suspects took items from the home and got away before police could arrive, St. Louis County Police spokesman Rick Eckhard told KMOV.

Police arrived around 1:40 a.m. to find the victim shot to death.

Police are searching for four black males who were each wearing dark clothes and bandanas over their faces. The suspects were armed with handguns and fled the home on foot after the shooting, KSDK reports.

The victim was pronounced dead shortly after authorities arrived. Police believe the victim was targeted by the assailants, according to the Associated Press. Anyone with any information about this case is asked to contact the St. Louis County Police.
