Missing North County Boy with Autism Found Safe, Returns Home

Trenell Griffin is autistic and has ADHD that requires daily medication. His family was concerned because he left home without supervision.

Myesha Tarrant experienced every mother's worst fear.

Her son Trenell Griffin went missing on Friday for a substantial amount of time triggering the Missouri Highway Patrol to issue an Endangered Person Alert.

Tarrant told KTVI her son has been found safe and sound. He was found at Schnucks supermarket on New Halls Ferry Road at N. Lindbergh Boulevard about seven miles from home.

She said a security officer working at the store recognized the boy from the news and called police. The boy told his mom he didn’t know why he ran away but that he was OK.

"This has been the worst day of my life," she said. "I can't imagine anybody going days or years withought knowing something."

His mother said everyone is just ready to hug him. Police returned him home Friday night. He went missing Friday morning around 10:30 a.m.

The Missouri Highway Patrol has issued an endangered person advisory for a missing 12-year-old boy.

Trenell Griffin was last seen at his home in the 8800 block of Huiskamp around 10:30 a.m., Friday.  His mother Myesha Tarrant told KTVI she is very concerned.

“I’m nervous, I’m worried," she said. "I want my baby back at home.”

Tarrant said Trenell has autism and has ADHD that requires medication.

He is described as a black male standing 5′ 3″ tall and weighing 100 lbs. He has black hair, brown eyes. He was last seen wearing with glasses, wearing blue shirt, jeans and brown shoes.
