Hazelwood police are on the lookout for two suspects who they say shot a man late Tuesday night during a home invasion, according to a report from CBS.

The suspects reportedly burst into the victim’s apartment, located in the 7700 block of Chalmette, around 9:30 p.m.

When shots were fired, the 30-year-old man was struck in the leg. He’s expected to recover, CBS said.

The suspects then fled the scene on foot. Police didn’t say whether anything was taken from the apartment.

A shot was also fired in a home in the 200 block of Flora, but no injuries were reported.

Gabrielle, thanks so much for your comment. I can only imagine how scary that must have been for everyone in the building and of course for the man who was injured. I hope they locate the people who are responsible for this, and soon.

So do I. I asked the police directly, What do we do now? Sleep with our lights on and hope it's over? VERY bad night it was....

Oh, I am so sorry you are going through this! I had my home burglarized when I lived in South County (about 15 years ago) and I STILL sleep with the lights on to this day. I feel for you. Now let's hope the community can pull together to bring these people to justice and to help prevent future incidents. Hugs to you and your fellow residents as you try to pick up the pieces.

I'm sorry you had to experience that terror, Angela! How awful for you!! Thanks so much for your well-wishes. I'm just happy my young neighbor was not killed. Our great police and paramedics came quickly and took all of this very seriously, so I feel certain this case will be pursued and investigated with all diligence.

Thanks, Gabrielle. I am also really glad that your neighbor wasn't killed (and that everyone was safe in our situation as well.) Thanks too for sharing your thoughts. It really helps to hear from someone who lives in the building!
