Hazelwood Police Catch a Robbery Suspect in the Act

The man surrenders upon police arrival, but had individuals held captive with a shotgun at the Hazelwood QuikTrip on Lindbergh Boulevard.

Monday morning began busy for the . At 1:20 a.m. police responded to a report of a robbery at the located on North Lindbergh.

According to Hazelwood Police Lt. Ken Jewson, an armed suspect entered the store located at 7400 N. Lindbergh Blvd., with a shotgun.

Upon the officers' arrival they observed the suspect behind the sales counter, according to Jewson. When the officers confronted the suspect he surrendered and was taken into custody.

Neither the victims nor the suspect, 28-year-old Jonathan Thayer, were injured during the incident.

The St Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has charged Thayer, of the 3900 block of Windemer in Florissant, with three felonies associated with the incident: felonious restraint, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon, according to police.

A $20,000 cash only bond has been set on Thayer.
