Hazelwood Man Robs Man at Knife-Point in Fake Craigslist Deal, Police Say

Richmond Heights Police said the man placed a false ad for an iPhone online and met the victim Dec. 7 in the Saint Louis Galleria parking lot.

A Hazelwood man robbed a man in the Saint Louis Galleria parking lot Dec. 7 after placing a false Craigslist ad for an iPhone, according to Richmond Heights Police.

Kerron Cowan, 26, of the 300 block of Chapel Hill Road in Hazelwood, was charged Wednesday with first-degree robbery and armed criminal action.

Richmond Heights Police said the man and victim agreed to meet in the Saint Louis Galleria parking lot in Richmond Heights after the victim responded to a Craigslist ad for an iPhone 5. Police said Cowan got into the victim’s car, pulled out a knife with an eight-inch blade and demanded his money.

The victim gave him $900 in cash. Cowan got out of the car and threw the victim’s keys as he left, according to the police report.

Cowan was being held in St. Louis County jail on Monday. Bail was set at $75,000.

Loser. I wouldn't buy anything in a parking lot, especially something that expensive. But someones naivety shouldn't mean they get a knife pulled on them.
