Hazelwood Man Choked Wife Until She Lost Consciousness, Police Say

A man assaulted his wife Sept. 18 on Knoll Creek Court, police said.

Christopher A. Rutland, 29, of the 700 block of Boellner Drive in Hazelwood, was charged Sept. 19 in St. Louis County Circuit Court with second-degree domestic assault.

Hazelwood police said Rutland injured his wife by hitting her, body slamming her and choking her until she lost consciousness in the 5400 block of Knoll Creek Court in Hazelwood.

Rutland is being held in the St. Louis County Justice Center. Bail was set at $20,000.
