Hazelwood Hosts Comedy Show Benefit for Joplin Relief

Comedian David Graham, a resident of Hazelwood, will be performing Saturday, June 11 in a benefit for Joplin tornado victims.

The event is a collaboration between Graham, the (HPD) and the. According to Sgt. Don Routh, N.A.T supervisor and volunteer coordinator for HPD, the opportunity is just another way Hazelwood and its residents try to give back.

"We have been presented with a very unique opportunity," Routh said. "David is donating all the proceeds of the show to our relief efforts and the school is donating the facility. We will have zero out of pocket expenses for this event so all monies received will go to the Joplin effort."

Known as a "America's Clean Comedian," he's been featured on "Comedy Central", NBC's "Last Comic Standing", cruise ships, and  had toured more than 41 states in the past 19 years of his professional career.

Graham is also nationally recognized for his "Mobil On The Run" commercials.

"All we need is a good turnout for a fun evening for a great cause," he said.

Individual tickets will be $15 and $25 per couple. The event will take place at 's auditorium, as the has donated the space. Routh said as a bonus, there is a second comedy act in the works but no date or time has been released at this time.
