Hazelwood Crime: Two Men Break Into a House, Run Upon Encountering the Homeowner

And, someone breaks into a vacant house but doesn't take anything in Wednesday's crime report.

Here are a few of the crimes that occurred on January 7 and January 8 in the City of Hazelwood. Hazelwood Patch attained the accounts from the Hazelwood Police Department.

January 7

Stealing: A handgun was stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 2300 block of Calle Vista.

First-Degree Burglary: Two men shattered a rear sliding glass door and gained entry into residence in the 100 block of Airshire. Upon seeing the homeowner, they ran away. Police searched the area but did not find the subjects.

Stealing: An iPod was stolen from a student at Hazelwood West Middle School. It was later recovered and returned to the owner.

Stealing/Property Damage: A vehicle door was damaged at St. Louis Outlet Mall while it was broken into. A book of blank checks was stolen.

Property Damage: A vehicle door was damaged at St. Louis Outlet Mall.

Drug Arrest: A student was arrested at Hazelwood West Middle School for possessing marijuana.

Property Damage: A vehicle steering column was damaged in the 4100 block of Dunn Road.

Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer: While taking a suspect into custody for outstanding warrants, the suspect assaulted the arresting officer in the 800 block of Undercliff.

Drug Arrest: A person was arrested in the 7000 block of North Hanley for being in possession of a controlled substance.

Burglary/Property Damage: A man attempted to enter a business in the 11000 block of Missouri Bottom Road after it was closed for the day.

January 8

Leaving the Scene of an Accident: A person hit a parked vehicle in the 21 block of Village Square.

Second-Degree Burglary: The back door of a vacant house in the 200 block of Anastasia was forced open. Police believe it could have occurred within last month. Nothing was taken out of the house.

Stealing: Someone walked into a business in the 5900 block of North Lindbergh and stole a jar from the business' counter.
