Friday is 11.11.11. What makes this day special? It’s Veteran’s Day, and, in all seriousness, an important time to thank those who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. Now that we've done so, lets get silly.
At 11.11.11 on 11.11.11, the time and date was a perfect same-numbered palindrome, reading the same backwards as forwards. This, according to the Daily Mail, is an event which can only happen on one day every 100 years.
Among other things, 11.11.11 will be a day of spiritual significance for those who believe the number 11 has a mystical power, and a very special day to get married, have a birthday or celebrate an anniversary (especially if it's your 11th).
According to an article on the WeTV blog "My Fair Wedding," there are at least "11 Reasons to Get Married on 11.11.11."
The No. 1 reason, according to "My Fair Wedding" blog: "Your spouse, family and friends will never forget your anniversary."
Another key reason: "If you're tying the knot in Vegas, the number "11" means big $$$ at the blackjack table!"
But there is also just a small chance it could mark the end of the world. At least, that is part of the premise of the movie coming out, 11-11-11. If you have further interest about whether Friday is when the world closes for good, you can join the Facebook group, “11/11/11, End of the World?”
Friday is also opportune time for techies. Verizon stores opened later than usual Friday—at 11:11 a.m. to release the new Droid Razr. If you thought the sticker price would read $111.11, you're wrong. It’s $299.99.
This is also a special day for twin girls from Wisconsin who will celebrate their 11th birthday, according to The Washington Post.
One hundred years ago on 11.11.1911, there was a huge cold snap in the United States and temperatures in some places dropped by 60 degrees in one day, according to the Daily Mail. According to The Weather Channel, that day it dropped to a low of 12 degrees. This year, it’s supposed to be a bit windy on 11.11.11 in Hazelwood, with a high of 62.
So whatever the significance of 11.11.11 to you, have fun and enjoy the day. It only happens once in a lifetime. This is unless you plan to live to 130!
