Regional Business Council Announces Fund to Help Non Profits

Several community leaders came up with this unique suggestion to help fund community projects.

Kathy Osborn, Executive Director of the Regional Business Council, a consortium of presidents and CEOs from 100 of the region’s largest companies. Osborn tells Patch "What's On Her Mind."

The St. Louis Regional Business Council (RBC) is dedicated to making the St. Louis region a better place.  We are pleased to announce the It’s Our Region Fund – 2012, which for the first time is open to community applications. The concept came from RBC member Michael Staenberg, with support from his friends, and fellow RBC members John Ferring and the late Todd Epsten.

We realize that many non-profits have a difficult time funding capital improvements in the $2,500 to $20,000 range, so we want to let groups know how much we value their hard work and that the corporate community will step up to help them achieve their goals.

The focus of projects is Community Development, Beautification and Healthy Living. This could be building a playground or ballpark in an underserved neighborhood, planting flowers in an urban area, and funding a sculpture or installing a fountain in a local park.

These are the “Small Change – Big Impact”  projects that may seem small, but have a big impact when they are actively used and appreciated by our citizens on a daily basis. The Fund will distribute $50,000 annually with a matching gift of $50,000 from the Regional Business Council, for a total distribution of $100,000 annually.

Applications will be accepted until August 15, 2012, and winners will be announced later in the fall. The 2012 allocation will be up to $100,000 in grants, depending on the breadth, depth and quality of the project requests.  To review the It’s Our Region Fund guidelines and complete an application, visit www.stlrbc.org/bigimpact.
