Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Missouri Encourages Be There Partnerships

Big Brother or Big Sister and professional program staff ensures the Little is surrounded by the people who care about them the most.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Missouri’s relationship model, known as 4:1+1, engages the most significant adults in a Little’s life—parent, teacher, Big Brother or Big Sister and professional program staff to ensure the Little is surrounded by the people who care about them the most. Each adult has an important relationship and a distinct role that offers Littles encouragement and support. This wouldn’t be possible without their “Sixth Membersm” on the team—the donor!

We’ll Be There is the agency’s promise to Little Brothers and Little Sisters. Bigs in conjunction with the agency do not commit to “fix” challenges Littles encounter in life, but they do commit to “be there”—for encouragement and support.

Big Brothers and Big Sisters invite organizations and businesses to join this commitment to the young people in the St Louis community as a “Sixth Membersm” through the Be Theresm Partnerships.

Be There Partnerships build a relationship between Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Missouri and companies or organizations in the community. This relationship is mutually beneficial—the company or organization hosts a promotion or event to support Big Brothers Big Sisters work and the agency works to create positive exposure for the  company and bring new customers through the doors.

Be There Partnerships can take many different forms.

• A business asking customers to make a small donation to Big Brothers Big Sisters at the point of purchase in exchange for a discount or recognition displayed at the business

• A restaurant hosting an evening in honor of Big Brothers Big Sisters and a percentage of proceeds being given back to the agency

• A business donating a percentage of a day/week/month’s sales

• A business owner matching funds raised to double the impact

The possibilities are endless! Consider supporting the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Missouri’s mission to build trusting and enduring relationship that encourage and support young people through a Be There Partnership.
