She died Wednesday following a long battle with lung complications.

Following a nine-week battle with multiple lung complications Nancy Nelson, Valley Industries' plant manager, has died.

Nelson served Valley Industries for more than 21 years, and was involved with working for sheltered workshops during her 36 year career.

Jim Guyre, executive director of Valley Industries, said stood for the workshop's mission.

"Nancy has been a tireless advocate in helping our workers achieve our mission of providing dignified and meaningful employment," he said.

Nelson was a board member of the Greater North County Chamber of Commerce, as well.

Chamber president Carolyn Marty said Nelson said many times during the last year how much she enjoyed serving on the chamber board.

"She was a wonderful person who will be dearly missed," Marty said via email to chamber members. "Please keep all of Nancy's family...in your thoughts and prayers."

Nelson leaves behind her husband Rob, daughter Katie and son Craig.

Nancy is my sister-in-law. She will be sorely missed no doubt, but her leadership, family values, humor, hard work, and dedication to her dear employees leaves a vacuum beyond our immediate family. She had a vibrant and beautiful smile, appreciated the simple things like her koi pond, photography, and travel. Love ya sis; see you on the other side! XOXOXO
