Like Our New Website? Join in! Blog on Patch

Did you notice? We’ve made a few changes today. After months or researching how our users share news on Patch, we are proud to introduce our new site!

Now, it’s easier than ever to keep your neighbors in the loop, share your opinion or start a discussion by creating a Patch blog!   Patch blogs are automatically featured front-and-center on Hazelwood Patch's homepage and in our daily morning newsletter. Right away, the community can read your thoughts on what’s going on around town. The topics are endless!

The posts of our most popular & active bloggers will be featured in the “Who’s Blogging” box!

Have you blogged with us before? We have a few changes we think you’ll like:

  • Bloggers can edit their posts after they’ve published!
  • You can moderate your comments, meaning you can immediately delete comments that make personal attacks or use foul language.
  • Start multiple blogs about different topics! Maybe you’re the PTO mom for the second grade class and you run a business. You can start two separate blogs, one about school news and one about your business.
Ready to get started? Here’s how!

On the homepage, scroll down to the featured bloggers section, a light green box with 'Who's Blogging?' at the top. Look for the green button that says ‘start a blog.’

Give your blog a name. (Mine is called ‘Hey Y’all, It’s Lindsay!’) This isn't a headline or the title of a blog post - it's just the name of your blog! Some ideas: All About Origami, Adoptable Pets, My Blog About __.

Choose a blog icon from the icons available, or upload your own photo. Then click ‘create your blog.’

You've created your blog! Now you can start to post:

Underneath the title of your blog, find the white rectangle that says "Write a new post..." When you click here, you'll get two options for posting:
  • Note - A note is just a sentence or two, maybe a photo. It's kind of like a status update on Facebook!
  • Article - Have a little more to say or lots of photos to share? Click the word "Article" to see a field for the title and body of your post. Make sure your headline is something readers will want to click!
You can choose - post instantly or save as a draft so you can post later. Once you hit the "Post Now" button, your blog post is live!

Questions? Problems? Email Lindsay.Toler@patch.com or call 314-452-2641. Can’t wait to read your first post!
