Out and About in St. Louis this weekend

Read on to find out about the tons of activities for kids to do this weekend in and around St. Louis.

St. Patrick's Day is upon us!

Will you be one of the thousands of folks rockin' the green in the city this week for not one, but TWO area parades??  Make plans now to attend one or both events! 

Saturday - Head downtown for the Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade! There is something for everyone at this free event - floats, marching bands, cartoon-character balloons, marchers and clowns and more!

Monday - The Ancient Order of the Hibernians sponsors the Annual St.Patrick's Day Parade in Dogtown! The parade, always held on March 17, is a family oriented tradition of honoring St. Patrick.

SundayIrish Step Dancing at Missouri History Museum. The St. Louis Irish Arts delivers music, dance, storytelling, and more in this lively program. Come early as the event always fills to capacity! Free event!

MondayShaw Family Adventures: Clover Celebration at Shaw Nature Reserve. Celebrate St. Patrick's Day by spending the morning at Shaw Nature Reserve. We will hike to find shamrocks, build a home for a leprechaun, and find nature's treasure to hide. One adult per child, please. For ages 3 and up.

MondaySt. Patrick's Day Streamers at St. Louis County Library - Natural Bridge Branch . You'll be dancin' an Irish jig after making this festive rainbow streamer for St. Patrick's Day! Ages 3-11. Free library event!

Monday-TuesdayStory Hour – St. Patricks' Day at Whole Foods Market - Town & Country. It’s St. Patrick’s Day today, and it’s time to celebrate! After reading “The Leprechaun Who Lost His Rainbow” and “A Fine St. Patrick’s Day”, kids will parade around the store, then make shamrock sandwiches and a fun, green appetizer.

Friday

Owl Prowl at World Bird Sanctuary. Learn more about the amazing life of Owls! A WBS naturalist will introduce you to live owls and their unique calls. Then, take an easy night hike through our grounds to try and call in a wild owl.

Homeschool Explorations: Luck of the Irish at St. Louis County Library - Weber Road Branch. Do you have the Luck of the Irish? Learn about and celebrate Irish traditions and history. Try some Irish soda bread and make something green to wear on St. Patrick's Day. Ages 5-12. Registration required. Free Event!

HIP HOP WORKSHOP at On Your Toes Dance Studio. Come join us for an afternoon Hip Hop Workshop with our very own Miss Carly! Class available for both girls and boys, 5-12yrs.

Winter Dog Walk in Queeny at St. Louis County Parks and Recreation. Bring your 4-legged friend out for a rare evening walk. A ranger will lead you and your dog on a 4-mile hike. Meer on Mason Rd. side of Queeny Park. This is a rain, snow, or moon shine event!

Fun Friday Puppet Shows at the St Louis Carousel at The St. Louis Carousel at Faust Park . Puppet show are approximately 30 minutes long.

Women's History Month Film Series: The Maggie Lena Walker Story begins at The Gateway Arch. The Jefferson National Expansion Memorial will host a film series saluting great female historical figures and moments in women’s history. This film runs through 3/21.

Sea Lion Show - "Spring Training" opens at Saint Louis Zoo. The sea lions of summer are back and reporting to spring training at Sea Lion Sound. The "Fish League" practices even include a few baseball-themed activities for the animal athletes — Cardinals-inspired, of course!

Winter Concert Festival at Eckert's Country Store and Farms. Live acoustic sets will be performed inside the Country Store every Saturday through 3/29 from 1pm- 4pm. These free events are perfect for all ages.

Family Film Days - Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971) at Missouri History Museum. Bring your family to the Museum for a FREE afternoon movie. Light snacks will be offered. Kids can enter to win a prize basket provided by Radio Disney. Today's feature: Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971)

Great Green Adventures: Spring Has Sprung!  at Missouri Botanical Garden. We’ll search for the first signs of spring as the Garden starts to wake up! For children ages 6 to 12 with an adult.



Saturday-SundayBugs Bunny at the Symphony II at St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. Bugs Bunny returns for an irresistible musical romp combining your favorite classic Looney Tunes, plus the concert premiere of three new spectacular 3D animated shorts, including a 1940’s Mel Blanc song never animated until now! That’s All, Folks!

Sunday

Circus Flora Pop-up Circus  at Taubman Prestige Outlets. Taubman Prestige Outlets presents St. Louis’ very own Circus Flora Pop-up Circus plus additional activities and entertainment for all ages!

Family Sundays at the Art Musuem! at St. Louis Art Museum. You’re invited to the Museum every Sunday afternoon for hands-on art activities and a lively 30min family tour through the galleries. March's family-friendly activities will focus on the theme, "Call of the Wild."

World Eagle Day at World Bird Sanctuary. Come out and see eagles from around the world at the World Bird Sanctuary and learn more about this majestic creature from our naturalists. Live eagle shows, photo opportunities, free crafts and more!

Tuesday

Young Rockers to play All Age Show  at Lunar Levitation. Bring your friends, family or just come alone for a great night of live music at Fubar on Locust with St. Louis’ own, Lunar Levitation.

Happy Birthday St. Louis! at St. Louis County Library - Cliff Cave Branch. Put on your party hat and get ready to celebrate your city's birthday with fun games, activities, crafts and even a birthday cake. A fun time will be had by all. Ages 3-7. Registration required.

Remarkable Raccoons at Powder Valley Nature Conservation Center. Raccoons are remarkable for their resourcefulness, adaptability and intelligence. Come have fun learning more about them. Ages 6 and up.

Wednesday

Symphony in the City by St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. We are throwing open the doors of Powell Hall and invite our audience to sit on stage and interact with musicians to enjoy a casual and unique evening of chamber music. These concerts are absolutely free - no tickets or reservations are required!

Free Family Workshops  at Chesterfield Arts. Chesterfield Arts invites you to our Free Family Art Workshop designed especially for creative family interaction. Guests can create and take home their own personal unique piece of art using items and art supplies provided by Chesterfield Arts.

Art @ Your Library: Rhyming Dust Bunnies: Ready for Fun! at St. Louis County Library - Mid-County Branch. Join us for a live performance inspired by the fantastic, comedic books of Jan Thomas. Kids will laugh out loud as they participate in this interactive theatrical event that combines puppetry and acting. Ages 3-7. Free!

Wednesday Play & Ride at The St. Louis Carousel at Faust Park . Enjoy going back and forth from great activities in the playroom to unlimited rides on the carousel between 10am - noon. Tailored for ages 5 and under. Every Wednesday from Jan 22 - Mar 26.
