Independent research awards top spot in St. Louis to AT&T in recent wireless network performance test

AT&T wireless customers in the greater St. Louis metropolitan area are benefitting from a network ranked highest in the city by an independent research firm.

RootMetrics, an independent research and testing organization based in Seattle, recently released a wireless network performance study for St. Louis, naming AT&T tied as the RootMetrics RootScore Combined Award winner for its combination of call quality, text performance and mobile Internet speed.

The RootMetrics award is the result of more than 28,300 wireless test calls, texts and mobile Internet transmissions conducted during July 2012.

“AT&T is tied for the highest rank in St. Louis for overall network performance, according to our research conducted in July 2012. We tested call, data and text performance across the St. Louis area, including over AT&T’s 4G LTE network. As a result, AT&T tied for the RootScore Award for combined performance in the area,” said Bill Moore, RootMetrics CEO.

AT&T launched 4G LTE in St. Louis in April 2012, and it plans to expand its 4G LTE network to cover 300 million people by year-end 2014. Even as we execute these plans, customers can get 4G speeds outside of 4G LTE areas with our 4G HSPA+ technology, unlike competitors, where smartphone customers fall back to slower 3G technologies when outside of LTE coverage.
