Valley of Flowers Festival Loses A Day, Adds Age Restrictions

The festival will begin on Friday and parents must be present with those 18 and under on Knights of Columbus grounds.

As the Valley of Flowers festival gears up for another year of family fun and celebration, residents and visitors will notice a number of changes for this year’s festival.

According to a press release, the festival will go to a three-day format of Friday, Saturday and Sunday. In years past, the festival started on Thursday with “Family Knight” at the Knights of Columbus grounds.

“It was time for us to create an atmosphere that we use to have,” he said. “I think it will be a great time, and be one of the best festivals.”

Kati Mahoney, manager of Florissant Old Town Partners, said that families will appreciate not have huge groups of teenagers hanging around the Knights grounds.

Mayor Schneider said that the shortened schedule is to ensure that every night is family night and to make it easier on festival volunteers.
