Hazelwood Woman Electrocuted at Lake of the Ozarks

The woman is the third fatal electrocution due to improper dock wiring in the last week at the lake, according to local news outlets.

A is the third victim in less than a week, electrocuted at the Lake of the Ozarks.

It happened around 7:45 p.m. Saturday evening at the 5 mile marker near Osage Beach, in Dry Branch Cove, according to the Missouri Highway Patrol.

The woman has been identified as 26-year-old Jennifer Lankford, according to Sgt. Paul Reinsch, Troop F Patrol spokesman. 

OzarksFirst.com is reporting Lankford was swimming with two others when they felt an electrical current in the water. The group swam to a nearby dock and Lankford was electrocuted when she touched the dock.

KMOX is reporting the two Lankford had been swimming with were her step brothers, ages 11 and 13, near a dock her family owns at Dry Branch Cove.

Lankford's death comes just three days after two children died after being electrocuted at the Lake of the Ozarks on July 4.

Alexandra Anderson, 13, and her brother Brayden, 8, were swimming near the 6.5 mile marker in the Gravois Arm of the lake when they were electrocuted, according to LakeExpo.com, which also reports an investigation into those deaths found multiple wiring problems at a private dock where the children were swimming.
