"You don't live to 95 with just good health," said Mayor Matthew Robinson at the July 20 Hazelwood City Council meeting. "You sir have a strong family behind you and (we) thank you for all you've done."

Case moved to the area in 1935, where he lived in the city of Kinloch. He served on the Board of Alderman for the city from 1961 to 1984.

He's was married for 69 years to his wife Alice, and credits her along with his three children, and host of grand and great grandchildren with making life enjoyable.

Upon retirement from his job at the Scullin Steel Company in 1981, which also went out of business that year, and some serious traveling, the Case decided to make Hazelwood home. For Case, life has been a long road, and he said there is only one thing every individual should keep in mind.

"No matter what you do, be the best you can be," he said.

Case has also remained an active member of his church, Ward Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church.
