Get Out: Enjoy the Remaining Free Summer Concerts, View A Meteor Shower

The Perseid Meteor Shower hits its peak on Saturday, so the St. Louis Science Center is offering a Cheap Date Night event.


When/ Where: On Saturday, at 7 p.m. at the gazebo at Truman Park.
Why go: Summer's winding down so it's time to grab all of the final outdoor activities you can.

CHEAP DATE NIGHT AT THE SCIENCE CENTER
When/ Where: The Science Center (5050 Oakland Avenue), Saturday, 7 p.m.
Why go: The Perseid Meteor Shower hits its peak on Saturday, so the Science Center is offering a Cheap Date Night event. Attendees will take in a star show, a simulation of the meteor shower and more, accompanied by snacks and a cash bar.
Pricing: $7


When/ Where: 291 Chesterfield Mall, Chesterfield, MO. (Hwy 40 & Clarkson Rd.), Saturday, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Why go: Have you struggled to lose weight and think you need added motivation – like millions of people chronicling your journey? Head to Chesterfield Mall on Saturday where the NBC reality TV show,“The Biggest Loser,” is holding a casting call. The show is looking for individuals and teams of two who have at least 85 lbs to lose. If applying in person bring a photo.

2011 Final Showcase - St. Louis Cabaret Conference
When/ Where: On Sunday, at 7 p.m. at The Bistro at Grand Center (home of Jazz at The Bistro)
Why go: See the culminating performance from the St. Louis Cabaret Conference, as 24 singers grace the stage. The show is directed by Andrea Marcovicci and Jason Graae with music direction by Rick Jensen and Shelly Markham.
Pricing: Tickets are $20 each. Tickets are available in advance at www.brownpapertickets.com  or at the door the night of show only (cash/checks only at door). Dinner available separately. For dinner reservations call 314-534-3663

Bike Tours on the Riverfront Trail
When/Where: On Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Discovery Bike Rentals.
Why go: Rent a bike at Discovery Bike Rentals, or bring your own, and pedal eight miles round trip along the Riverfront Trail while learning about the natural river features and how people began changing the river in the 1800s.
Pricing: Discovery Bike Rentals range from $10 to $25.Reservations are required by calling 877-982-1410.

Festival Latino
When/ Where: On Sunday from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. at January Wabash Park.
Why go: Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish is having their 10th Festival Latino, offering Mexican, Venezuelan and Argentinean cuisine. Dancers from Mexico, Venezuela, the Dominican Republic and Colombia will entertain, along with music from Puero Rican Band, Son Montuno,  Tumbao Tropical, Chapito de Sinaloa, Gustavo, Alfredo and Rogelio, Banda Norteña and more. Thre will also be a children's pavilion complete with face painting and Latin crafters.
Pricing: Entry into the festival is free, food and drink additional.
