Get Out: Blues Week, LouFest and America I Am

This there's much to do this upcoming week from blues festivals to American History.


When/ Where: Open daily at 10 a.m. at the Missouri History Museum.
Why go: America I AM: The African American Imprint celebrates African American contributions to our nation through artifacts, documents, multimedia, photographs and music. Designed to unite and educate Americans of all cultures, ages and backgrounds, the exhibition features more than 200 artifacts, including Alex Haley, Malcolm X, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Michael Jordan, Arthur Ashe, and Muhammad Ali, Etta James and Michael Jackson.
Pricing: Adult: $8, Senior and Student: $5, Child 6-12: $5, Child under 6: free

Festival of Nations
When/ Where: Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Tower Grove Park
Why go: This outdoor festival is a celebration of many cultures with food, music, dance and crafts. This year's featured performances include COBU, an all female performance troupe that fuses traditional Japanese Taiko drumming and tap dance.
Pricing: Admission and entertainment are free.  

LouFest Music Festival
When/Where: On Saturday and Sunday in Forest Park. See the schedule for details.
Why go: There will be 18 national and local bands on two stages, food from PI Pizza, Pappy's Smokehouse, Atomic Cowboy and more, and many things for sale. This green event will have recycling, composting, free valet bike parking and refillable water stations. Area K for kids will feature music, magic, food, and a rock climbing wall.
Pricing: A two day pass is $64, a one day pass is $38 and children younger than 10 are free. Re-entry available.

St. Louis Blues Week
When/ Where: This event will be from August 25 to September 4 with a variety of locations and times. See schedule for details.
Why go: It's Blues. Enjoy one of the oldest musical art forms in American culture. There's great live music, including  a blues reception, festival, brunch, cruises, workshops, discussions and awards. Festival performances will be at Washington and 6th Streets downtown. Saturday's music begins at 2 p.m.
Pricing: Prices vary for different activities.

Downtown Restaurant Week
When/Where: Through August 28 from  5 p.m. to 11 p.m. at many restaurants downtown.
Why go: $25 can get you a three-course dinner at some of the best restaurants downtown including Cielo, Ruth's Chris Steak House, Mosaic, Mango and more. Reservations appreciated.
Pricing: $25 per person, plus tip and tax.
