Viewfinder: The Greater North County Chamber of Commerce's Third Annual Golf Tournament

Despite the heat, a lot of people came out for the tournament. Proceeds will benefit promotion of area businesses.

The held its third annual golf tournament Tuesday, and despite temps in the upper 90s, more than 70 came out to the links. The tournament, held this year at , included a putting contet and a closest-to-the-pin contest.

Last year, it was held at Emerald Green and brought in $16,000. The funds go to promote North County businesses, publish a directory and hold networking sessions. Director of marketing Debbie Wright said it's all about assisting the members of the chamber.

Colleen Simon was co-chair of the even along with Greg Ripp. Simon said the tournament, along with Night of the Stars, the chamber's Christmas event, are their biggest fundraisers.

Seventy-one golfers braved the heat to play a round to benefit the chamber. This included business sponsors representing located on North Lindbergh, and Schaefer Autobody Center located on Dunn Road, among others.
