Emerald Automotive Hires Rian Urding as CFO

The hybrid automotive maker has hired the Chief Financial Officer of Intelligent Energy Holdings as its CFO.

Emerald Automotive, the low emission van company that recently made the City of Hazelwood its US headquarters recently announced the full-time appointment of Rian Urding as Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

“Rian has been involved with Emerald from the very start and has been instrumental in its development and growth," said Emerald Automotive CEO Andy Tempest in a statement. "I am absolutely delighted that he has agreed to join the Emerald Board on a permanent basis and serve as our full-time CFO.”

Emerald Automotive will bring to market an all new, light weight, low emission delivery vehicle planned for global distribution. Rian will join the Emerald Automotive management team, which has a wealth of experience in bringing low-volume vehicles to market.

Rian, who trained with PricewaterhouseCoopers, is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants. Throughout the past five years, Rian has been Chief Financial Officer of Intelligent Energy Holdings, a global clean power systems company. In that capacity, an Emerald Automotive statement says that he oversaw a substantial growth in the business.

In October 2009, Intelligent Energy and AGT Strategic Consultants formed a Joint venture named IE-LEV to develop lightweight hybrid vehicles.

After two years, AGT Strategic Consultants work in developing the outline design, customer contacts and full business plans, sold Intelligent Energy and the company agreed to support and fund the initial phase of development, according to the Emerald Automotive website.

In April 2011, Emerald Automotive LLC was formed as the wholly owned legal entity of IE-LEV to develop the manufacturing of the vehicles, and establish Emerald's long term US presence.
