Consumer Alert: Wal-Mart Pulls Enfamil Formula After Death of Missouri Baby

More than 3,000 Wal-Mart stores nationwide as part of the voluntary pull.

Note: The government has not ordered a recall of the 12.5-ounce cans of Enfamil Newborn powder with the lot number ZP1K7G. Manufacturer Mead Johnson Nutrition said its records showed the lot tested negative for the bacterium before it was shipped.

The action began when the Lebanon Wal-Mart pulled its stock of Enfamil Newborn formula after a 10-day-old baby died Sunday.

The Lebanon Daily Record reports Avery Cornett's family took him to a local hospital when he showed signs of lethargy and stomach discomfort. According to the newspaper, tests showed Avery had contracted a rare bacteria which can be found in contaminated infant formula.
