Celebrate 7-Eleven's 85th Birthday with a Free Slurpee July 11

The convenience store, located on North Lindbergh in Hazelwood along with more than 40,000 others, is offering customers a free 7.11 ounce frozen treat Wednesday.

If there's a Slurpee lover inside you, this might make your hump day just a little bit better.

is turns 85 on Wednesday and as a gift, is offering customers a free 7.11-ounce frozen Slurpee drink to help celebrate.

The free Slurpee offer is available 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at participating convenience stores while supplies last. As part of the "Slurpee-bration," some locations will offer in-store specials, music, entertainment, prizes and food samplings.

7-Eleven began offering free Slurpees on July 11 on its 75th birthday in 2002, and it's become a big hit with customers, according to the store. In fact, one year the company gave out 5 million Slurpee drinks in one day.

7-Eleven first began in 1927 when a Southland Ice Company employee started selling bread, milk and eggs on a dock in a Dallas suburb. Today, the chain has 8,600 7-Eleven stores in North America and about 41,500 stores worldwide.
