An Event-Filled May 21

Saturday had so much going on that it's taking this week's entire Get Out column.

The date of May 21 seems to be symbolic for many this upcoming weekend. According to a California evangelist, the world will cease to exist. But for those in this neck of the woods, it means high school graduations, free summer concerts and garage sales. 

Here's some events going on Saturday in the and throughout North St. Louis County.

  • Where/When: , 1186 Teson Rd., Hazelwood, May 21, 8 a.m.-Noon

  • Why Go: One neighbors trash my be another's treasure. Stop by and see if there's something you may need at home.

  • Pricing: Free

    • Where/When: Park and if it rains the concert will occur at , 1186 Teson Rd., Hazelwood, May 21, 7 p.m.

  • Why Go: Bring lawn chairs or blankets, snacks and coolers and head out to enjoys Hazelwood's first summer concert series event. No glass containers will be allowed. Shuttle bus service from , 1186 Teson Road, begins at 6 p.m. In case of rain, the concerts will be held at the in White Birch Park.

  • Pricing: Free

    • Where/When: Florissant Civic Center, Saturday, May 21, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

    • Why Go: For those seeking information on fair housing, employment, financial education or credit, several people and organizations will be on hand to speak to residents about these and more topics.

    • Pricing: Free 

    Hazelwood School District  Graduations

    1. Central is at 10 a.m.
    2. East is at 2:20 p.m.
    3. West is at 7 p.m.
    • Why Go: If you have a family member or close friend graduating, this is the time to take part in a special occasion.

    • Pricing: Free 

    • Where/When: Ferguson Baptist Church, 333 N. Florissant, Ferguson, May 21, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

    • Why Go: Help with the continuing effort to help residents in Ferguson affected by the Good Friday tornado. Volunteers must be 16 and older; lunch is provided; and all volunteers are asked to dress for weather and working conditions.

  • Pricing: Free 

    • Where/When: Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital, May 20-22 (Friday, 6 p.m.-11 p.m.; Saturday, Noon-11 p.m.; Sunday, Noon-7 p.m.)

    • Why Go: Families can enjoy a day of carnival rides, vendors, food and fun at a staple of the Creve Coeur community.
