109 Home Depot Employees Affected by Closure of Hazelwood Service Center

All of the employees were offered the opportunity to relocate to two other states, but only about 1/3 accepted the offer. The Hazelwood customer service center will close in mid-October.

More than 100 Home Depot employees will be forced to lose their jobs or relocate in October when the company closes its Hazelwood customer service center, according to a report from the St. Louis Business Journal.

All of the 109 Hazelwood employees, both hourly and salaried, were given an opportunity to relocate to one of Home Depot’s new customer service center in Utah or Georgia, a spokesperson for the company said, but only about a third of them took the offer.

The Hazelwood center supports the company’s online business, including its Home Decorators Collection unit. As the online business expands, Home Depot said it needed to move the business to the larger Utah and Georgia centers to meet the added needs.
