Stormy Weather: Thousands Lose Power in North County

More than 15,000 residents are without power Friday night as well as several down tree limbs.

After a brutal thunderstorm and reported possible tornado touched down in the North County area, tree limbs and power outages have been left in its wake. 

Starting at approximately 8 p.m. Friday night, a series of tornado warnings had been issued for the St. Louis County area, including North County area.

Reports from Twitter through the St. Louis County Office of Emergency Management identify a possible tornado in or near Florissant area. 

Ameren Missouri had more than 15,000 power outages reported on its outage map for North County, including up to as many as 5,600 in Hazelwood. 

Residents on Facebook indicated all was well with the exception of tree limbs down and power outages. 

No official word yet on any other problems in the Hazelwood area.
