'Nutcracker on Ice' Puts Spin on Holiday Favorite

Metro Edge figure skaters from all over the St. Louis-area performed Dec. 8 and 9 at the Webster Groves Ice Arena.

The Metro Edge Figure Skating Club took a holiday classic to the ice for the 8th annual "Nutcracker on Ice" presentation with four performances Dec. 8 and 9 at the Webster Groves ice arena but includes girls from the Hazelwood area.

World figure skating competitor Barbie Long, 16, of St. Louis, joined the show this year as a guest skater, hot off a gold medal win at the Midwest Sectional Championships for Junior Ladies to qualify for Nationals. Also joining the performers was world champion Igor Lisovski, a skating coach in St. Louis and 1981 World and European Pairs Champion.

Metro Edge figure skaters are from all over the St. Louis area, including Webster Groves, Brentwood, Chesterfield, Clayton, Kirkwood, Ladue, North St. Louis County, South St. Louis County and St. Peters. Some skaters come from as far as Jefferson City and Illinois cities, Fairview Heights and Alton.
