Hazelwood Forgoes HarvestFest Parade for 2013 Plans

Hazelwood Parks and Recreation plans new attractions and other traditions for this years festival.

Hazelwood HarvestFest will have some noticeable changes this year, but none more than its annual parade--or lack thereof.

The city festival will not feature a parade this year, and instead will have a number of new attractions including the magic of Disney with a partnership of Radio Disney with Hazelwood Parks and Recreation.

Radio Disney will bring an emcee, DJ and choreographers to teach dances, host trivia games and hand out Disney giveaways to everyone.

City of Hazelwood spokesman Tim Davidson said that in recent years, the city didn’t get the response it had hoped for in terms of crowd turnout and participation for the parade, so the city decided to go in a different direction.

The direction, he said, will hopefully make this a bigger and better festival for this year.
