Lisa Thompson, an artistic educator with the Pravana International Artistic Team, gave "Patch" the inside scoop on the model casting call.

Have you ever wanted to be a model? If so, you might just get your chance, thanks in part to Hazelwood salon owner, Lisa Thompson.

Thompson owns , located at 7211 N. Lindbergh Blvd. In February, she was invited to become an artistic educator with the Pravana International Artistic Team.

“I was very honored to be picked as part of the Artistic Team and to have the opportunity to train with other stylists from around the world,” Thompson said. “It has opened so many doors for me, as well as for my Trendz stylists.”

Thompson said that Pravana is all about creating color and haircut trends for everyday wear. And, on April 3 and 4, Thompson will participate in the St. Louis Discover show with the Pravana International Artistic Team.

“We are looking to put St. Louis on the map for great color and haircuts,” she said. “Who would have ever thought you can have great runway hair from New York and L.A. right here in Hazelwood!"

The show, which will be held at The Big Bang at Laclede’s Landing in St. Louis, will feature an ‘80s theme. Stylists and students will compete in separate competitions during which their models will walk the runway featuring their work.

The Pravana International Artistic Team will hold a casting call on from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Renaissance Grand, located at 800 Washington Avenue in St. Louis. Models must be between sizes 2 and 6. They’ll need to be available on Sunday and Monday for the show, and on Saturday for a practice appointment with the stylist.

Thompson said models will be paid $100 per day, and they will receive a free hair style, cut and or color from one of the Pravana Artistic Team stylists.

“The only downside of being a makeover model is the fact that you can't recreate the style once it's done because the stylist is no where around or cost a fortune,” Thompson said. “Of course, if you live in Hazelwood,  you can come to Trendz to get the look again.”
