Hazelwood Patch Seeks Boy and Girl Scout Bloggers

Leaders, parents and scouts are invited to use the free Local Voices blogging platform to share news, photos and information with the community.

Are you a Boy Scout or Girl Scout who loves to write? Maybe you’re a scout leader or parent who wants to share the latest news about your scouts with the community. In either case, if you’d like to get the word out about the good things your Hazelwood-area scouts are doing, Hazelwood Patch is looking for you.

We’re seeking local scouts, leaders and parents to blog about their scouting experiences right here on Hazelwood Patch’s free Local Voices platform.

And don’t forget: Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts can blog, too!

What You Get Out of It

Local scouts often depend on the community to help support them through fundraisers and other initiatives, and most community members are happy to oblige. It never hurts to keep them up-to-date on your activities as a group—and blogging with Hazelwood Patch will offer you that opportunity.

As a Local Voices blogger, you’ll have the ear of local residents, so you can show the community the good work you’re doing with the scouts. You can feature photos, service projects, troop field-trips, learning opportunities and more.

Plus, when it’s time to recruit new scouts, you can use your Local Voices blog to help get the word out—you won’t have to just rely on students to bring home the flyers the school sends out. I don’t know about you, but my kids sometimes have trouble giving me such items in time.

You can even blog about local issues that aren’t directly related to the scouts, including things like law changes and other stories that relate to kids and families.  It’s your blog!

And anytime you’ve got a big announcement or an exciting post, we’re happy to feature it on the front page and help you promote it.

Make It a Project

If you don’t always have time to blog, consider creating a troop blog. Offer each scout, leader and parent in the group the opportunity to use the blog to share his or her thoughts and experiences with the community.

It’s All About You

This isn't a reporting job. It's blogging. You write what you want to say when you want to say it. Do it on your schedule, whether that's posting multiple entries per day or a couple times a month.

While there's no pay involved, you'll get to put your valuable views on a site that is increasingly serving as a community hub.

If you'd like to chat about the opportunity to share your unique voice with our readers, let me know by emailing me at angela.atkinson@patch.com. If you're ready to get started now, you can get started here.
