Get Out! Go See a Band or Find Your Imagination with the Kids

This week's Get Out column has much to do around Hazelwood.

    • Why Go:  If you would like your children, ages 9-11, to know the basics of first aid emergency training, sign them up for this class. They will learn how to assess and care for cuts and wounds, choking, poisoning, shock, sprains and fractures, and insect stings and animal bites.

  • Price: $20 per child

    • When/Where: Saturday, April 9 at near the play area. The event is from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

    • Why Go: Radio Disney's "Minnie's Masquerade" event is to celebrate the recent DVD release of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Minnie's Masquerade. There will be lots of free fun events for children.

    • When/Where: April 8-9, 8 p.m. at the .

  • Why Go: The scene is Yonkers in 1942. Bella, a 35-year-old woman who is mentally challenged, lives at home with her mother. Eddie, her brother, leaves his two kids on the doorstep of the house of his mother, Grandma Kurnitz.  The house is full of drama with the boys, Bella and her secret romance, her mother and young brother (small-time hood) in a place called Yonkers.

  • Price: $14 Adults, $12 Seniors/Students in advance; $16 Adults, $14 Seniors/Students at the door

    • When/Where: April 8-10 at in St. Charles. The event kicks off Friday at 5 p.m. and goes until 10 p.m. Come back Saturday and Sunday at 10 a.m. for an entire day of entertainment.

    • Why Go: The Missouri Tartan Day Festival is a free, family friendly celebration of Scotish-American Heritage. Join in the fun with a fantastic array of music, food, dance, crafts, storytelling and clans. You'll also find animal exhibits and interactive activities for the whole family. On Saturday at noon, watch the parade as they travel down Main Street beginning at the boathouse.
