Get Out: A Mother-Daughter Expereince at St. Louis Mills and SciFest

This week's Get Out column features science play, zombies and homeschooling events at the library.

There's something to do almost every day of the week in either the or throughout North County, from breast cancer awareness events to hayrides and storytelling on the river. Enjoy.

Why go: As part of the malls month long "Celebrating Women" celebration, the  event is dedicated to celebrating the relationship between mothers and daughters. Special discounts will be offered throughout the mall for moms and daughters such as the special $15 portrait package from Dream Catchers Studio and discounted rides at Nascar Speedpark.

When/Where: All day Saturday and Sunday, at the St. Louis Science Center, 5050 Oakland Ave, Saint Louis, MO
Why go: SciFest is celebration of science and technology through presentations, wacky experiments and engaging hands-on activities. Choose from more than 100 individual sessions covering controversial, cutting-edge and everyday topics in science, presented by scientists and engineers.
Pricing: Free, but there are also paid sessions.

When/Where: 6 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Leland Avenue and Delmar Boulevard in University City
Why go: Walk through The Loop dressed as a zombie and help raise money for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America. Meet at 6 p.m. in the parking lot behind Starbucks to sign a have a code of conduct agreement that everyone must sign before participating. The walk will proceed down Delmar toward Skinker Boulevard and go as far as The Pageant.

Missouri River Storytelling Festival
When/Where: 7 p.m. Saturday at , 1050 S Riverside Dr. in St. Charles
Why go: Enjoy this family-friendly event. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Why go: This is a good time for children ages 5-11. Registration required. October is National Popcorn Poppin’ Month. Come for a fun look at corn and popcorn. Learn lots of 'corny' facts, like where popcorn comes from, and how and why it pops.
