Results for Arch/Park Tax, Prop P in St. Louis County, City

It had to pass in both St. Louis City and St. Louis County in order to impose the sales tax increase to fund improvements around the Gateway Arch, local parks and regional trails.

Voters in St. Louis County and St. Louis City said yes to a 3/16ths of one-cent sales tax increase designed to fund about $31 million a year in improvements to the Gateway Arch grounds, the regional Great Rivers Greenway trails and greenways, and for city and county parks. The measure had to pass in both the county and the city in order to be implemented. In the city, with 100 percent of the vote counted, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported that the proposition won with 67 percent of the vote. With 100 percent of the votes counted in the county, the proposition passed easily with a 53 percent to 47 percent margin. Clint Zweifel Says He'll See Through State Treasurer Term Despite Lt. Governor Chatter

Just elected to a four-year term in November, Missouri's State Treasurer is seen by some as a possible candidate for Lieutenant Governor if a vacancy is created.

In what he called a "sincere statement," Missouri State Treasurer Clint Zweifel told Patch Wednesday he would serve a full term in office, despite some speculation he could be a candidate for lieutenant governor. Zweifel, a former state representative from Florissant and Hazelwood West High School (HWHS) alum, spoke to a group of small business owners at Pulaski Bank in Creve Coeur Wednesday. Incumbents Seek Re-election Hazelwood School District Board of Education

No newcomers file to run in the April municipal election when there are two board seats up for grabs.

As the April 2, 2013 municipal election quickly approaches, there won't be much of an election within the Hazelwood School District (HSD). On that day residents will go to the polls to vote for candidates they wish to servedin various council, mayoral, fire district and other capacities; however, when it comes to the board of education, there will be no competition. The Hazelwood School District has confirmed with Hazelwood Patch no residents have filed to challenge those currently in office. Incumbents File for Hazelwood City Council Seats

City Council seats representing Wards 1, 3, 5, and 7 in the City of Hazelwood are expiring.

The deadline has approached to file as a candidate for several Hazelwoood City Council seats for the April 2, 2013 municipal election. On that day residents will go to the polls to vote for one council member in each of the city’s wards where terms are set to expire. Positions up for grabs include wards 1, 3, 5 and 7. To be eligible to run, a candidate has to be at least 21 years old prior to taking office, a U.S. citizen, a resident of the city for the full year preceding the election and a resident of the ward from which he or she is elected for at least six months prior to the election. Special School District of St. Louis County to Vote on Board Candidate, Incumbent

Two board seats are up during this election season with one newcomer and one incumbent filing to take the spots.

The deadline has approached to file as a candidate for board positions with the Special School District of St. Louis County (SSD), for the 2013 municipal election season. SSD handles the election process a in a different manner than other municipal elections. Nancy Ide, SSD's Chief Communications Officer said the district has one candidate for each of the two seats up for re-election. "With the passage of Proposition S in 1998, SSD Board of Education members are elected by the District’s Governing Council," Ide said. Lambert Airport, American Airlines Reach Lease Settlement Agreement

The agreement cuts the airline's flight space in half. Rejection of the agreements could have jeopardized American Airlines service at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport.

Lambert-St. Louis International Airport and American Airlines, Inc. have reached a tentative agreement that will settle American’s financial and operational obligations at the Airport. American’s parent company, AMR Corporation, is currently dealing with Chapter 11 Bankruptcy and the agreement has to be fully approved. The City of St. Louis, which owns and operates the Airport, pursued a negotiated settlement, which includes modifying leases with American Airlines, to avoid a rejection of all existing agreements with the city. Rejection of all agreements could have jeopardized American Airlines service at the Airport and left a lot of upset travelers. “This is an agreement that, once approved, settles American’s account receivable to the …

Lacy Clay Now Senior Missouri Delegate Following Emerson's Resignation

Rep. Jo Ann Emerson announced she would retire from her seat in U.S. House of Representatives in 2013.

Rep. Jo Ann Emerson, R-Missouri, announced Monday that she would resign from the U.S. House of Representatives in February 2013, nearly a month after winning reelection. Emerson represents the 8th Congressional District in southeastern Missouri, stretching north into Jefferson County and west to include Rolla. She plans to become the president and CEO of the National Rural Electric Cooperative.  She first took office in 1996, replacing her husband, Bill Emerson, after his death. With Emerson's retirement, Rep. William Lacy Clay, D-Missouri, becomes the longest serving member of the Missouri Congressional delegation. The Akin campaign is rallying supporters by highlighting actor Jamie Foxx's weekend comments about President Obama.
