The General Nutrition Center (GNC) at St. Louis Mills sees a regular flow of customers looking for a more natural way to control their blood sugar. According to the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, the adult diabetes rate in Hazelwood decreased to 8.6 percent in 2009, compared to 9.7 percent in 2008. That's about the same as the state of Missouri, which ranks 23rd for the diabetes condition nationwide.
