Local artists, age 16 and over, are encouraged to enter their paintings and drawings in oil, watercolor, acrylic, charcoal, pastels or pencil. If steak is on the mind, think about heading over to Lone Star in Bridgeton where you'll also be helping out your area chamber. Tuesday only, you can help the Northwest Chamber of Commerce by dining at Lone Star Steakhouse in Bridgeton only, in its Dine & Donate fundraiser event. Fifteen percent of all sales will be donated back to the chamber, including dine-in, carry-out and bar orders at the location at 11969 St. Charles Rock Rd. The City of Hazelwood is one of ten local municipalities joining the state of Missouri in its participation of the 2012 Show Me Green Sales Tax Holiday, which is scheduled run until Wednesday. The 4.225 percent state sales tax will be waived for any purchase of qualified energy-efficient appliances during that week. Hazelwood retailers where you can purchase these items include: The Maytag Store, Sears Appliance Outlet and Ehrlich's Kitchens & Baths. Local and regional Golden Tee fans will have the chance to tee off against top national players Thursday through Sunday, April 19 to 22, when the 2012 Power Events Golden Tee Tour stops through St. Louis for the Missouri Open. Golden Tee Golf is a coin-operated video game. Participants in the Missouri Open will compete against top players and former champions for cash prizes and the Golden Tee Player of the Year title. If your son is good a hitting the ball out the park, or can throw and pretty fast curveball, you may want to consider the City of Hazelwood's Parks and Recreation Division MLB Pitch, Hit and Run. The competition is free and for boys ages 7 through 14. Winners advance to the sectional event. Parents can register their children at the Hazelwood Community Center or online. The event is set for April 17. The rain date April 24.
The Adult Easter Egg Hunt 2012 is scheduled for rain or shine on Friday in the City of Hazelwood. But due to limited tickets, participants are asked to register by Monday. If tickets are not sold out on Monday, they will be sold until they do sell out. Tickets are $10. Participants will need to bring flashlights and an Easter basket or bag. Participants can also bring their own beverages, coolers and lawn chairs. Not glass allowed.
