Inma Korte has been coming to Hazelwood Harvestfest's book fair since its inception. The woman infamously know as "The Cookbook Lady" comes out every year for one item: cookbooks. “I just love to cook for my daughter and grandchild," she said. “I mostly find all my books here, but I also go to garage sales." Korte is the "Godmother" of the book sale. She arrived at the Hazelwood Harvestfest before the parade. And on Saturday's rainy morning, you couldn't talk to anyone at the sale without hearing about "The Cookbook Lady." Book sale co-chair Karen Rahmberg said all proceeds go to to the …

You see them and you may think they are just staffers of the Hazelwood Police Department, but the Hazelwood Volunteers in Police Services Unit is a distinct group of individuals who volunteer their time in order to make a difference in the community. They are everywhere in Hazelwood—setting up for the free summer concert series, working Hazelwood Police Department events such as the Prescription Drug Take Back Day, and you might just see a VIP taking a squad car to get an oil change. On Saturday, the group was present at Hazelwood Harvestfest spreading the word and looking for new VIPS. …
The rain didn't dampen the spirits of the hundreds of Hazelwood residents who attended Hazelwood Harvestfest Saturday. Local families and friends gathered at Hazelwood's Howdershell Park to participate in a full day of family-friendly activities at the annual event. "We always enjoy this event," said Randy McDaniel, Florissant Valley Kiwanis Club treasurer and secretary. "Unfortunately, the weather is not what it should be, and the crowd is pretty thin." The Kiwanis Club sold sodas and snacks, along with several other local organizations that set up booths at the event. McDaniel said that the…
