Students from Brazil, Iraq highlight Thursday's Festival of Nations at Hazelwood West High School

English Language Learner students from 17 different nations will bring samples of their culture to the Festival of Nations event.

If you've never been out of the United States, but have always dreamed of doing so, Thursday is your chance to experience 17 different cultures from around the world without leaving the City of Hazelwood.

Hazelwood West High School will be hosting the Hazelwood School District's (HSD) Festival of Nations event from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

HSD English Language Learner (ELL) students will present a taste of their home nations to visitors during the annual Festival of Nations event.

The annual event allows students from 17 nations to feature booths for visitors to sample food, games and crafts from their respective homelands.

New nations represented this year are Brazil, Iraq and Venezuela.

There will also be select student performances at regular intervals throughout the event.

Big hits at last year's event included the Mexican Hat Dance performance and custom crafts from Ethiopia.

Will you be attending? The event is open to students, family and HSD faculty and staff.
