School Immunizations: What Hazelwood Parents Need to Know
We're letting you know this year's requirements for school vaccinations.
As the start of the new school year rounds the corner, Hazelwood parents are getting their kids ready for the next leg of their educational journey.
Along with making sure they've got all the school supplies they'll need, parents have to ensure that their students are properly vaccinated for the upcoming school year.
According to the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, a child who is beginning kindergarten must have all vaccinations required by the department's schedule.
The department also states that current students must be "in progress" and have an “Immunization in-progress form, which includes the appointment date for needed immunizations, on file and must receive immunizations as soon as they become due.”
Medical or Religious Exceptions
There are certain exceptions when it comes to immunization requirements.
Children who have medical exceptions or parents who have religious exceptions must have a waiver signed and on file. Without this waiver (or the required immunizations), kids will not be allowed to attend school in the Hazelwood School District.
Parents should note that in the case of an outbreak with a vaccine-preventable disease, students may be required to stay home from school for a period of time.
Which Immunizations Does Your Child Need?
For your convenience, Patch has rounded up the requirements and compiled them in the handy chart below.
