Last Chance: Deadline for St. Louis County Real Estate, Property Taxes

Hazelwood residents must have their payments submitted by Dec. 31.

Time is winding down for residents to submit their payments for 2011 real estate and personal property taxes.

Missouri state law requires real property and personal property taxes to be paid by Dec. 31, 2012.

This means taxes must be paid and or postmarked to St. Louis County Collector of Revenue by Dec. 31 to avoid interest and penalties accrued on it.

Delinquent payments are subject to late charges of 2 percent interest per month, or any portion thereof, with a maximum of 18 percent per year, plus a 2 percent penalty.

Revenue offices at the County’s three satellite locations are open from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.; the Clayton office opens at 7 a.m. and closes at 5:30 p.m.

Residents have a number of ways to pay for their taxes, too.

  • Real estate and personal property taxes can be paid online through a credit card or debit of a checking or savings account.
  • Payments can be mailed—as long as they are postmarked by Dec. 31—to Collector of Revenue’s Office, Lawrence K. Roos County Government Building, 41 S. Central Ave., Clayton, MO 63105.
  • Payments could be paid in person by check or money order until Dec. 31. Residents can go to the St. Louis County Government Center North at 21 Village Square Shopping Center.
