Hazelwood West Middle School's Principal Leaving HSD
Allison Klouse has accepted a position as principal at Wildwood Middle School in the Rockwood School District.
Hazelwood West Middle School's (HWMS) head principal, Allison Klouse, began her career as a middle school teacher in the Fort Zumwalt School District where she taught for six years, and was a principal for about the same amount of time.
For the last four years, Klouse served as the principal of HWMS and in her last email blast to parents announced she would leaving the Hazelwood School District effective July 1.
"I want to inform you that I have been offered and have accepted the position of Building Principal at Wildwood Middle School in the Rockwood School District beginning July 1, 2012," she said in her email. "I will no doubt miss the relationships that I have developed with the students, staff, parents and community of Hazelwood West Middle School."
She earned a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s degree in administration from Lindenwood University. She also holds both a specialist degree and doctoral degree in educational leadership from Saint Louis University.
During her time at West Middle, Klouse came up with a new safety plan for the school after at 2011 incident in which teenagers were charged for attempting to sexually assault a girl in one of the school's bathrooms.
Klouse, along with HSD superintendent Steve Price, other faculty and members of the PTSA created a safety focus group for parents. Klouse has always been an advocate for her students and staff.
"West Middle is an outstanding school with a fantastic student body and a tremendous staff," she said. "The mission of our staff will always be to provide your child with an exemplary education that will prepare them well for their secondary careers."
Klouse said HSD has begun the process necessary to hire a new principal and will ensure a smooth transition for HWMS students and staff.
