A Hazelwood man, his mother and sister were charged Thursday in St. Charles County Circuit Court with manufacturing and possessing methamphetamine and endangering a child.

Jonathan Trendley, 29, of the 700 block of Hazelvalley Drive in Hazelwood, Kathryn Roloff, 52, and Kaylyn Clark, 17, both of the 2600 block of Falcons Way in St. Charles, were all charged with making and possessing meth and endangering a child.

St. Charles County Sheriff’s detectives followed Trendley Wednesday to a St. Charles address where he traded $50 and one-fourth of a gram of meth for two boxes of pseudoephedrine pills, according to a sheriff’s department report. The detectives recovered the cash and meth from the address and pulled over Trendley at the QuikTrip at 225 North Kingshighway in St. Charles.

A detective said Trendley admitted to the transaction and said he had given “a bump” of meth to his mother, who was watching his 3-year-old son. Detectives found the pseudoephedrine and more meth in Trendley’s car.

Clark, Trendley’s sister, told detectives that Trendley made meth at their mother’s house in St. Charles and that Clark would take his son into another room while her brother cooked the meth. According to the report, Clark admitted to obtaining narcotics for herself and her mother.

Detectives went to Trendley’s mother’s home, where they knocked and yelled through an open window for 40 minutes. Detectives said they smelled an overwhelming odor of cooking meth coming from the house, saw Roloff run upstairs and heard repeated toilet flushing.

After Roloff answered the door, detectives searched the home and found a large meth lab in several rooms. Roloff’s toilet was overflowing with used meth foil, fuel and used filters, according to the report.

The report said Roloff admitted her grandson slept in her room inches away from a hydrogen gas generator and feet away from a meth lab and used syringes. The child’s other grandmother had taken him from the home before detectives arrived, Roloff told detectives.
