A Belleville man faces several criminal charges after St. Louis County Police said he arranged meetings via text and had sex with a 13-year-old in an undisclosed part of St. Louis County.

Jason M. Monroe, 32 of Belleville, IL, was charged Tuesday with three counts of first-degree statutory rape, attempted enticement of a child, and misrepresenting his age to solicit a minor for sexual misconduct.

St. Louis County Police said Monroe met with the 13-year-old three times in July and had sex with the 13-year-old. According to the report, Monroe texted the child on Aug. 6, stating they would “do the same stuff we did last time.”

Police said the two exchanged text messages over a three-month period, and Monroe told the victim he was 23 years old when he actually was 32.

Bond for Monroe was set at $300,000.
