QUEST Teaches Incoming Hazelwood West Middle School Students To Transition
Incoming sixth-grade students at Hazelwood West Middle School received an early start on their middle school education in the Hazelwood School District’s QUEST program.
QUEST is a summer transition program for incoming sixth-grade students. Available at all six district middle schools. It is similar to new student orientation but on a larger scale.
“This year’s QUEST program has been a great opportunity for the incoming sixth-graders to meet some of their teachers and a chance for them to begin new friendships,” said Mike Rizzo, summer school coordinator, in a statement. “During the two-week program, students were able to participate in content lessons as well as team builder activities.”
QUEST activities have included:
- Creating papier-mâché globes
- Learning to adapt to changes: no recess, longer class periods, lockers, class schedules with electives and gym lockers
- Learning to open combination locks
