Hazelwood’s Finance Department Receives Certificate of Excellence for 13th Consecutive Year
For the 13th consecutive year, the City of Hazelwood
has been awarded the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada's (GFOA) Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting.
It was the City's comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR) that earned the City the achievement.
This certificate is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, according to a City of Hazelwood statment, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment for Hazelwood’s city government and its management staff.
Hazelwood’s Finance Department prepared the CAFR, which has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, including the demonstration of a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” which is supposed to clearly communicate the financial story and motivates potential users and user groups to read it.
This document is posted on the City’s website here, and can be viewed by the public at any time.
“I sincerely appreciate the opportunity to work in a City that emphasizes excellence,” said Donnie Burns, Director of Finance for the City of Hazelwood, in a statement. “As always, this is a team effort.
"I am so impressed with the excellent work consistently produced by our finance staff. It is an honor to work with them, for the City of Hazelwood.”
